Laryngeal Mask

The laryngeal mask from Asid Bonz is made of soft medical PVC and is latex-free. The transparent material makes it easy to check that the laryngeal mask is fitting correctly. The laryngeal mask has a guide line for correct positioning.

A laryngeal mask, also known as laryngeal mask airway (LMA) is primarily used in elective surgery and offers advantages over mask ventilation in terms of the patient's oxygen saturation due to the more effective seal in the larynx. The LMA does not require manipulation of the patient’s head, neck, or jaw, which means less postoperative pain in these areas. In addition, workplace stress is lower when inhaled anaesthesia is used, as the amount of leakage is smaller. Postoperative throat pain and hoarseness are also less frequent when anaesthesia is performed with a laryngeal mask rather than an endotracheal tube.

Furthermore, laryngeal masks are now an integral part of predicted and unanticipated difficult airway algorithms. Intubation via endotracheal tube remains the gold standard for airway management in emergencies as it offers better protection against aspiration. However, in case of unsuccessful laryngoscopic intubation attempts, the use of laryngeal masks is recommended.
